02 · Context
Why awake ENT surgery in the office
Patient awake
Procedures under local anaesthesia avoid general anaesthesia and allow direct communication with the patient throughout.
Faster recovery
Patients usually return home the same day, with a shorter recovery pathway than after theatre-based surgery.
Theatre time freed
Moving suitable cases to the office frees operating room capacity and can lower the cost per procedure.
